Grassroots #2 Videos

August 5, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

The video guys have finished some edits from the last Grassroots competition round.

Gaelen Norman, who usually shoots photos, took some time between his runs to film and then throw together this video.

The next video is from newcomer Will Nakassa. It opens with a pan of the top 16 opening ceremonies which is why you see a bunch of the drivers with their hands on their hearts for the national anthem. Will doesn’t have the full HD setup that some of our other video guys do but he pulls it off with a lo-fi feel. A cool edit with some Black Sabbath!

With only one more round left in the Grassroots Championship we’ll see who can take the top honors home. Can Mikes winning streak be stopped? Will some new driver show up and take points away from the current leaders? Looks like we’ll have to wait till 9/12 to find out!

Thanks to all the drivers, fans, and especially the workers pulling double shifts!

And thanks to all the photographers and media. Check out these galleries for more action and check back for video as it gets finished!

ProAm #3 flash results!

July 10, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

An epic round of Evergreen Drift ProAm is in the books.

evd_proam_2010_logo

evd_2010_proam3_gross_kpollard

Final results are:

  1. Kyle Pollard
  2. Nik Jimenez
  3. Kohei Nakamura
  4. Peter Funatake

Kyle had only driven in one drift event in over 2 years prior this ProAm round and had never slid the 5/8ths bank. He was driving a borrowed car that just had ITBs installed and the ECU tuned a couple days before the event (this means he was risking mechanical issues with untested upgrades for those not up on the jargon). Even with 176HP at the wheels from a Honda S2000 engine swap the Corolla was still underpowered for the mega sized FD pro course but Kyle quickly figured out how to make it work and drifted to the top of the podium! Outstanding.

Stay tuned for more media, pictures, and full results.

  1. Peter Funatake
  2. Kohei Nakamura
  3. Kyle Pollard
  4. Nik Jimenez
  5. Andrew Coomes
  6. Mike Phillips
  7. Walker Wilkerson

Practice and qualifying was eventful with wall taps and mechanical gremlins for many drivers but everyone has pushed forward and all cars are set to take the track tomorrow.

The tandem eliminations start at 1pm this Saturday the 10th so don’t miss the action as the drivers go door to door for the champagne.

Nikolay Konstantinov was the only Northwest pro to make the FD top 32. Roland’s transmission blew just before qualifying, Ian was just edged out of the 32, and Victor missed the cut as well. Congratulations to Nikolay for being the first ever Evergreen Drift driver to qualify in an FD top 32! Full FD results here.

Check out the Photo Finish Media gallery for early pictures from Thursday and qualifying today.

Stop by the Evergreen Drift booth for free stickers and to enter the free raffle to win Longacre racing hats and mechanics gloves!

ProAm Prizes

July 29, 2009 by Julia · Leave a Comment

The Evergreen Drift crew has been working hard and several sponsors have stepped up to offer some great prizes for the proam.

Of course the main objective for the drivers is the four invitations to the ProAm National finals at Firebird Raceway near Phoenix, AZ on December 5th. If a driver that already has an invite finishes in the top four the invite will go to the next highest placed driver.

To sweeten the deal for the drivers Exedy Globalparts USA will award the top placing amateur driver with $1,000! To qualify for the contingency, drivers must run the required Exedy Decal.

For the podium finishers the following prizes will be awarded.

All drivers that pre-register online will receive a gift certificate to Canyons Restaurant. Canyons is located just down the street from the speedway and is the official afterparty spot of Evergreen Drift.

There is still time for driver to register so if you meet the ProAm rules requirements and want to battle against the best drivers the Northwest has to offer sign up at the registration page ASAP!

If you are a sponsor and would like to partner with Evergreen Drift for the ProAm event please contact us at drift@evergreendrift.com.
