The online community Northwest Nissans (aka NWN) has cooked up a cool contest to select one worthy driver to represent them in the Evergreen Drift Northwest ProAm Championship series.

This is the season kickoff car show spectacular of the year that you don’t want to miss.

Evergreen Drift will be on hand to talk about the upcoming season, pass out fliers, and hand out swag!

B at Campbell Nelson Nissan came through BIG TIME and gave us a ton of swag to hand out and cool items for the NWN raffle!

The cliff’s notes for the season include:

• Evergreen Drift Northwest ProAm Championship - Watch the Northwest’s top drifters battle it out on the full 5/8ths Formula Drift spec course in a five round series under the Friday night lights. Both licensed professional drifters and amateur drivers will vie for the the title of Evergreen Drift Northwest ProAm Champion. With a round held in conjunction with the Formula Drift Pro Championship event in July and the finale at the Evergreen State Fair this will be the hottest series in the Northwest. This is a Formula Drift ProAm sanctioned series and the season’s top finishing amateur driver will receive a Formula Drift Professional license! Additionally, the amateur drivers that finish the season ranked second through fifth will receive invites to the Formula Drift ProAm nationals for a chance to earn their FD Pro license. There is one more wildcard ProAm Nationals invitation that will be given out at the discretion of Evergreen Drift officials for a total of 5 invites for the season. We’re adding a car show hosted by Northwest Nissans and have other plans in the works to make this the place to be on a Friday night.

• 3/8ths Grassroots Championship - Are you new to drift competitions? Maybe you don’t have the budget to build a 400hp ProAm monster car for the 5/8ths. The 3/8ths Grassroots Championship was designed for you. This is a unique three round series allows drivers of all skill levels and car preparation levels to compete inexpensively with an equal shot at the podium. The proven competition rules allow for caged and non caged cars to safely compete head to head by using “Pseudo Tandem” bracket eliminations. Judging is based on how well the driver pushes his car to the limits allowing a beginner in a mildly modified car an equal playing filed against a competitor with a highly modified car. This is a true grassroots series allowing drivers of all experience and modification levels to ‘run what you brung’ and compete without breaking the bank.

• Drift School presented by KP Race Engineering - It’s been a long time since we’ve had a drift school but this year we have one on the schedule thanks to support from the guys at KP Race. Stay tuned for more details.

• Open Drift - Of course we have plenty of Open Drift dates where you can come out enjoy a full day of drifting just for the fun of it or even use it as a test and tune practice session for the comps. Don’t miss the crazy multi car tandem mayhem and the 5/8ths bank action.

Northwest Nissans Golden Gardens

The Northwest Nissans meet at Golden Gardens in Seattle is the de facto kickoff of the Northwest season.

Hundreds of Nissans, Datsuns, and plenty of other types of car show up all over WA, BC, MT, OR, ID, CA and who knows where else. Check out all the rare cars and crazy swaps and mods of every type from the Northwest scene.

Don’t miss this chance to get out of winter hibernation, hang out, meet the people you yap with on NWN, and see tons of cool cars. People also bring parts to sell so bring some cash for that special find or make some by selling your extra stuff.

All Evergreen drifters are encouraged to show up early so we can all park together. If you have a drift machine bring it out and chat with the staff about the 2010 season. This is pretty much the only time you’ll catch us hard parking.

Please note that this is located at a public park. It is important to positively represent the scene by driving legally and quietly at all times coming to and from an event. Aggressive driving and being a general jackass impresses no one and makes the non car people hate us. Don’t be ‘that guy’ and save it for the track.

Evergreen Drift Announces 2010 Pro-Am Championshp Series

Evergreen Drift announces 2010 Pro-Am Affiliate Championship Series sanctioned by Formula Drift at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA

Evergreen Drift is excited to announce plans for the 2010 season that include a Pro-Am championship series sanctioned by Formula Drift.

Evergreen Drift hosted a highly successful Pro-Am event for the first time in 2009. Fourteen drivers took to the track competing for the four available invitations to compete in the Pro-Am National Championship that took place at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California this past week. Evergreen Drift was represented by a total of six drivers at Nationals as two of Evergreen’s drivers earned their invitations at the Vegas Drift Pro-Am earlier in the season.

The Formula Drift Pro-Am Nationals was the last stop of the season for the top Pro-Am drivers from across the country where they battled to earn a license to compete in the Formula Drift professional series. Evergreen Drift is very pleased to announce that Evergreen Drift competition veteran Ian Fournier was the overall event winner and Pro-Am National Champion. Of the six drivers representing Evergreen Drift at the 2009 Nationals four earned their professional Formula Drift Championship Series license.

Building on that success Evergreen Drift has been asked to partner with Formula Drift to expand our Pro-Am program for the 2010 season. Evergreen Drift is honored to become a Formula Drift Pro-Am Affiliate Series with a 5 to 6 event Pro-Am championship series held at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington.

The champion of the 2010 Evergreen Drift Pro-Am series will be awarded a Formula Drift professional license and positions 2 through 4 will receive an invite to the Pro-Am National Championship event with one additional wild card invite to be decided by Evergreen Drift.

All Evergreen Drift Pro-Am competitions will take place on Evergreen Speedway’s 5/8’s mile oval, the same track utilized by the professional Formula Drift circuit. This demanding course is a crowd favorite on the Formula Drift calendar with 4th gear 90 mile-per-hour entry speeds and drivers skimming inches from concrete walls which adds up to heart stopping drifting action. The drivers and cars are routinely pushed to the limit and beyond, which makes this track an excellent proving ground for the future stars of the Formula Drift professional series or the amateurs who just want the challenge and excitement of competition drifting.

The series will be governed by the official Formula Drift Pro-Am rules. The Evergreen Drift Pro-Am series competitions will follow the prescribed Pro-Am judged tandem event format. This includes Formula Drift style qualifying and tandem judging. The three member judging team will be led by either an FD judge or an FD approved judge.

Drifting fans will be able to experience the most exciting drifting action in the Northwest and cheer on their favorite local drivers. The backing and resources of the Formula Drift organization adds additional exposure to the series providing increased value to teams and series sponsors.
