Formula DRIFT Announces Schedule Change for the Pro Am National Championship;
Event will now be held on November 21 at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale
Long Beach, Calif. – October 1, 2009 – Formula DRIFT has announced a schedule and venue change for the 2009 Pro Am National Championship. The event will now take place on November 21 at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.
The top amateur drivers from the United States and Canada will meet at the infamous “House of Drift,” at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. This will be the first time that a Pro Am competition of this level will take place at this location. The rising stars of drifting will be discovered and compete for their chance to earn a Formula DRIFT Pro Championship license. Current professional drivers that made their way up through the Pro Am circuit include Justin Pawlak, Ryan Tuerck, Joon Maeng, and Matt Powers.
“Bringing the FD Pro Am National Championship to Irwindale is not only very cool, but very symbolic as well,” said Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “Never has a Pro Am competition of this magnitude and importance been held at Irwindale before. And to top it off Irwindale is the birthplace of American professional drifting, back in 2003 when Ryan and I brought D1 outside of Japan for the first time.”
Tickets for the Pro Am National Championship will go on sale on October 17, the same day as Round 7: Judgment Day the final event of the 6th season of the Formula DRIFT Pro Championship. Online tickets can be purchased on the Formula DRIFT website. For more information, visit: www.formuladrift.com.

Evergreen Drift // Open Drift // 8/21/2009

Coming straight off of Round 3 get ready for open drift this Friday 8/21.
Drivers // Beg or borrow some tires and come out for some Friday night action. Open drift events have been crazy with tons of run time (20+ runs at the last event). Open drift events all about fun with 6 car tandems and 5/8ths action! Kick off work early and start the weekend right!
Fans // Spend Friday night with us and watch the Northwest’s finest drifters put on the best showcase of local talent in the Northwest. UPDATE! The owner went crazy and there is free grandstands admission this Friday. If you haven’t been out yet check us out!

Evergreen Drift Championship // Round 3

No rest for the wicked! Round 3 of the Evergreen Drift Championship series is happening only a week after the ProAm. With only 33 points separating the top 6 spots for the season championship the ProAm drivers are returning to do battle against all the Evergreen Drift competitors to stay in the championship fight.
Currently, defending champion and KP Race Engineering driver Victor Moore has the lead after the first 2 rounds followed closely by Peter Funatake, Rickey Henderson, Trent Stromkins, Roland Gallagher, and Ian Fournier.

ProAm Prizes

The Evergreen Drift crew has been working hard and several sponsors have stepped up to offer some great prizes for the proam.
Of course the main objective for the drivers is the four invitations to the ProAm National finals at Firebird Raceway near Phoenix, AZ on December 5th. If a driver that already has an invite finishes in the top four the invite will go to the next highest placed driver.
To sweeten the deal for the drivers Exedy Globalparts USA will award the top placing amateur driver with $1,000! To qualify for the contingency, drivers must run the required Exedy Decal.
For the podium finishers the following prizes will be awarded.
- 1st - 1/2 inch Snap On 18v impact wrench
- 2nd - Longacre Temperature Compensated Digital Tire Pressure Gauge
- 3rd - Special Edition Speedware Motorsports Sparco Tide gloves ($189 MSRP). $25 gift certificate and T-Shirt from Full Throttle Bottles
All drivers that pre-register online will receive a gift certificate to Canyons Restaurant. Canyons is located just down the street from the speedway and is the official afterparty spot of Evergreen Drift.
There is still time for driver to register so if you meet the ProAm rules requirements and want to battle against the best drivers the Northwest has to offer sign up at the registration page ASAP!

Evergreen Drift on The Inside Drift radio show Saturday 7/25 @ 10am

The Evergreen Drift crew will be on the Inside Drift web radio show this Saturday 7/25 from 10am to 11am to talk about the ProAm and Evergreen Drift program.
Evergreen Drift ProAm drivers Victor Moore and Andrew Coomes will also be on the show talking about their experiences in working their way up the ranks and trying to earn a Formula Drift pro license in Phoenix at the ProAm national finals this year. Victor is the defending Evergreen Drift Champion and competed in the ‘08 ProAm finals at the Red Bull Drift World Championship. Andrew is fresh off the Vegas ProAm finishing 4th and has already earned an invite to this years finals in Phoenix.
